October 7th, 2018

It’s CRAZY to think that it’s already been 365 days since we got engaged. And with only 285 days until our wedding, time feels like it’s flying by. Whiiich elicits equal parts excitement and anxiety. I’m a planner, so I was really ahead of the game when it came to the big day. I got all of the major things checked off the list almost right away. But with the new house and a busy life, it really feels like wedding planning has been pushed to the back burner. Still, I know everything will get done and I plan to get refocused during the upcoming winter months. In the meantime I thought it would be fun to look back on the day that started it all (:

On Friday October 6th, Josh and I had plans to go on an “adventure day” with my best friend Jena and her boyfriend (at the time) Devin. We were planning to go to Longwood Gardens & then to Easton, PA to visit a brewery with another friend. Now this isn’t anything out of the ordinary... we plan adventure days to random places with J & D all the time. But I sort of had a gut feeling the night before. The morning of I was so nervous. But everyone else was acting really normal! So I just convinced myself that I was getting my hopes too high and pushed it out of my mind.

So there we are at Longwood Gardens. I brought my camera because Jena had asked me to take a few photos of them for their anniversary. I was instructing them how to do walking photos, but they kept “messing it up”. Jena said, “Why don’t you just demonstrate and show us what you want.” And then I’m sure you can guess what happened next…

In the moment the thought honestly did not cross my mind AT ALL, which looking back is really surprising since I had been thinking about it all night. I can’t remember what he specifically said, but he told me that he had a whole speech prepared and forgot every word the second her got down on one knee! Afterwards we found a beer cart and a quiet spot in the garden to cheers and take a few more pictures (thanks Jena!). We tried to explore the rest of the gardens, but I couldn’t concentrate on anything else haha. Later, we still went to visit my friend Bridget in Easton. We drank champagne & sampled beer — my perfect afternoon. We also ate dinner at a random garlic festival that happened to be there, so romantic right?! To end the night we came back to Reading and met up with a few other friends & family to celebrate.

I’m sure everyone says this, but it truly was the perfect day surrounded by all the right people. Now bring on July 2019! Happy engagementiversary babe!!
