Wedding Planning Update

The countdown is ON!

Well, I guess the countdown has been on for awhile now. We have officially been engaged about 16 months, and we are 164 days away from the big day! I’m not going to lie, I get a little ping of anxiety every time I get that email from the Knot reminding me of the days ticking by. Thankfully I’m a planner by nature, so I feel like I have been pretty on top of getting everything organized.

When we got engaged in October 2017, I went full speed ahead with planning. We picked our date, venue, most vendors, and outlined decor ideas within only the first few months. Everyone thought I was crazy for doing all the things when we were planning a long engagement, but I am so thankful I did it that way! For a large portion of 2018 we really put our focus onto the house, so it was nice to kind of put the wedding plans to the back burner for while. But now that 2019 is officially here, I’m trying to get back track.

Throughout this process, I’ve found that seasonal lists are the best way to get sh*t done (as I get closer I’m sure I will turn them into monthly/weekly lists haha). So far for my winter list I have crossed off a few big things…

  • We officially booked the last of our vendors (videographer, hair stylist, and shuttle transpo to be exact)

  • Chose bridesmaid dresses

  • Sent our save the dates

  • Visited my dress & got the alterations process started

  • Wrote our ceremony

  • And started the booking process for our honey moon (we are road tripping through New England!)

There’s also a lot of big things coming up this spring… We are going to finish up some decor we have been working on (thanks to me & Jena’s new cricut!), create our registry, have our shower & bachelor(ette) parties, and hopefully getting as much as possible done so I can have a stress free start to my summer!

Seriously though, for anyone who has not planned a wedding yet… there are SO many details, big and small, that you wouldn’t normally even think about (& don’t even get me started on how expensive it all is). What I listed above is just the highlights, and only about a third of the size of my actual lists . My goal for these last few months as a fiancè is to stay organized, not procrastinate, and to remember to have FUN with it. Despite how chaotic it gets :)

For everyone out there who has recently or is in the process of planning a wedding… What do you think? What has surprised you most about the planning process? Shoot me an email or DM on instagram. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
