Baby Behm: First Trimester

Hey there! It’s been quite awhile since I’ve shared anything on here, but… ya know, 2020. But I’m so excited to be able to share more about the one good thing that came from this year. We’re having a baby! I swear even after all these weeks it still doesn’t quite feel real. Before we were pregnant, I knew that I wanted to use this platform to document parts of our journey, even if only for us to look back on years from now. So now that I’m am finally through the first trimester.. It’s time for our first bumpdate!

As of this week I am officially 15 weeks, which puts me a week into trimester two (thank god). Baby B is due on May 11th, and we found out that we are having a GIRL! Not that I’m surprised, both Josh and I had a gut feeling from the very beginning. We would always say “her” or “she”, and I was constantly researching cute girls clothes & products (trying to remind myself that I didn’t actually know for sure yet haha). Not that I felt strongly about wanting a girl, I just KNEW. I also had so many dreams about having a baby girl earlier this year before I was pregnant, so maybe I’m a little psychic ;)

We have had so much fun following all the baby apps that explain whats going on with baby each week. Honestly, it’s pretty crazy and there’s sooo much going on in there that you wouldn’t even think about (& now I know why I’m so tired). This week she is the size of an APPLE (or about 4 inches). She is able to make facial expressions, suck her thumb, and even hiccup. I sort of think I feel some movement in there, but I’m not positive. Either way, I know she’s wiggling around in there. She was so wiggly at our 10 week ultrasound, which I wasn’t expecting (but so cool to see!).

Overall, we are so grateful that everything has been going smoothly so far. I definitely had quite a few rough days during that first trimester (the usual: nausea, headaches, lack of appetite, needing lots of sleep), but I have been slowly getting better since about week 10. The only thing that has still been bothering me is these awful headaches occurring about once a week (message me if you have any ideas to cure that!!). So far no specific cravings yet, I just want whatever food I want when I want it (poor josh haha). I don’t really have an official bump yet, but I swear I see something poking out! Other people just can’t see it yet…

Other than that we are starting the process to prep for baby! Josh and I have been discussing some names, but nothing set in stone yet. We are doing a lot of research and started our registry, which is pretty overwhelming to be honest (you need SO much stuff). After we finish up our kitchen reno, we can start on some small changes & organizing for the nursery. Don’t worry, I already have the whole thing envisioned. Everyone says the second trimester is the BEST, so I’m excited to finally be here!!
