Six Months Old
Happy half birthday, Saylor!
Wow, baby girl is six months old already! So crazy how fast these last few months went. It feels like I should still have a newborn, but nope! She’s turning into such a big girl :) We have been super busy lately, but parenthood has been an amazing adjustment. This fall I’ve gone back to working in the school in person (well, two days in person and one virtual), so I’m thankful that my flexible schedule allows me to work part time and spend a lot of time at home with Saylor. To be honest, going back to work has been one of the trickier obstacles I’ve had since she’s been born, but I think we finally have a good routine going.
So let’s talk about Saylor! She is so freaking amazing. Every month I say how fun it is to see her little personality grow more and more. She is so sweet and observant, but definitely has a bit of a wild side! She loves to look around, and is so curious about the world around her! She’s been rolling all over the place, starting to push up on her arms (crawling will be another big adjustment haha), and is able to sit up with some assistance. She’s still doing physical therapy once per month to work on strengthening & stretching her neck (we found out she had torticollis soon after birth — which is basically tight neck muscles due to how she was positioned in the womb). But she’s been doing awesome and will hopefully be finished with those appointments soon!
Overall she’s been a pretty good sleeper, but has issues here and there (especially when teething). I don’t have any complaints about a middle of the night feed or two... She normally goes right back to sleep and I know one day I will miss the night time nursing! Saylor loves books, any toys she can chew on, and noisy rattles. Oh, and watching her smile and laugh is the best thing ever. It’s clear how much she loves her mama & dada, and especially her puppy sister, Hazel.
Our breastfeeding journey is still going strong! I definitely feel as though it was difficult for the first few weeks, but it feels like second nature now. And honestly, I love having the quiet moments with her. Luckily, she’s also been doing well taking a bottle of pumped milk when I’m away or at work. These past few weeks we also tested out a tiny bit of food in the high chair just to see what she’d do. We tried avocado & banana, and she didn’t seem too sure about them haha. But she loves to smash them up and make a mess! We will keep trying and I know she will love food soon!
Well I think that just about covers it! We are so excited to continue to watch Saylor grow and learn new things every day. We can’t wait to celebrate the holidays for the first time as a family of 3 (4 with Hazel!). I love traditions and there have been many we adopted since we’ve been together, so we can’t wait to teach her and create new ones along the way. Hope you all are having a great week!
