Bathroom Refresh

Hey everyone! Hope y’all are having a great weekend (: I wanted to share a little home update about what we’ve been working on around here the past few weeks. When all the wedding madness started we put most of the home projects on hold. And if there’s anything I’ve learned about home ownership, it’s that it’s a slow, one step at a time process. Unless you have the time & the $$ to do it all at once, which of course isn’t realistic for most. So finally the wedding/holiday chaos has died down & now we are ready to get back at it!

This month we decided to give both our bathrooms a quick makeover! We have a full bath upstairs and a half bath down stairs… both of which definitely needed a refresh. We didn’t do anything major, just focused on the cosmetics. Although I know Josh would lovveee to rip up that tile. I don’t love it, but don’t hate it enough to take on a project like that, ya know? Either way, these simple updates were exactly what these spaces needed!

Let’s start with the upstairs.. So we only did a quick paint refresh when we first moved in (just to brighten up a bit until we had the opportunity to do what we wanted). For the refresh I decided that the medicine cabinets HAD to go. We replaced the hardware with black finishes, installed new lights, mirror, & faucet, and hung shelves above the toilet (mostly amazon & wayfair). We also replaced the shower curtain, rod, and hooks (Target & amazon!). Most of the decor came from TJ Maxx, Homegoods, or Target. We might add a few minor changes in the future, but for now I’m really happy with the updates!

And now on to the downstairs. Like with the upstairs, we did some minor updates when we first moved in. Basically, we just painted cause I couldn’t stand the awful shade of yellow or blue trim. The biggest thing we did for this project was the shiplap accent wall, which I loveeee! We used 1/4 inch cedar plywood. We also updated the mirror, sink vanity & faucet, hardware, and light (Again, Amazon or Wayfair). Josh also built me the gorgeous ladder, which TBH he stained the wrong color… butttt I still love it so it worked out! We still need to add some final touches. I’m hoping to find decor to hang on the wall, and we plan to replace the flooring when we renovate the kitchen. But for now it’s perfect!

Of course, my main job was the design & decorating, but otherwise Josh gets the hard work credit! He stayed up late so many nights over the past week to get these projects done. He did all the building/staining/hanging/etc for these projects, and I am SO thankful to have a husband who can be so handy!! And he deals with me being so picky, so seriously, he’s the best. (PS sorry for the indoor, unnatural lighting in these photos — there’s no window! Im sure no one else notices, but the photographer in me is bothered! Lol)

Honestly, Even though we did a lot, these simple refreshes were perfect for cleaning up these spaces! I’ve been thinking about these changes for the last year, so I love finally having my vision come to life. Buttttt, now I’m just setting my sights on the next big project (I’m thinking the kitchen... Gotta save up for that one though!). Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
