Our Favorite Christmas Traditions

Well, here we are! How is it already almost Christmas ?! I’m sure if you are anything like Josh & me, you are probably going full force through your Christmas to dos + celebrations. Personally, I’m allll about this time of year. I just love taking advantage of the fun season + soaking up every moment of the festivities. Every year we make a “Christmas To Do List” (cause ya know I love lists), so I thought it would be fun to share some of our yearly traditions!

  1. The Christmas Barn

Every year in the beginning of December we go visit Murdough’s Christmas Barn. It’s this cute little shop that has EVERYTHING Christmas. Like probably a million ornaments haha. But we go with my family each year and love being able to pick out a milestone ornament based on whatever happened that year. From engagement, buying a house, etc. It always seems like there’s something going on! Some of the ornaments pictured were gifted to us, but either way it’s fun to fill up our tree with the things we are celebrating & want to remember.

  2. Decorate our tree together

I usually do the rest of the decorating since I am so particular… But the tree is something we always make sure to do together!

  3. Drive around to look at Christmas Lights!

Hazel came along this year! She may have slept through the whole thing lol

4. Bake Cookies

5. Have a hallmark movie night

Honestly, we watch a ton of Hallmark & other Christmas movies at this time of year. But we always set aside a night to play this Hallmark drinking game that we found on Pinterest. It’s fun to make light of how completely cheesy these movies are!

6. Wear our Christmas PJs & drink hot chocolate (a lot lol)

7. Advent Calendar

Every year we do the chocolate calendars. I’ve actually done this every year for as long as I can remember. This year we decided to use all our stocking stuffers for this adorable Magnolia Advent Calendar from Target. We each got 12 small gifts for each other & take turns opening them each day!

8. Wrap gifts while watching a movie

9. Make an ornament

We started a new tradition this year! I saw this cute idea on IG and figured we’d give it a try… We used one of those plain, clear ornaments & used the Cricut to make a sticker that said “2019”. Then we sat down together to reflect on the year. We filled out small pieces of paper with our favorite memories of the year, stuffed them in, & there ya have it! I guess having another milestone ornament is a little repetitive, but oh well! I thought it was a cute idea haha

Well, so far that’s all we got! I’m sure over the years we will continue to create more traditions as we build our family. It’s fun to be able to just take a step back & celebrate this special time of year together. If any of you guys have any fun, unique traditions. Send me a message & let me know! We would love to add new ideas next year. Happy holidays everyone!
